While still a kid, Iván López Núñez, develops interest for comics, animation and film. In Barcelona he studies video, photography and animation and starts making short films. In 2003 he moves to Amsterdam to study at the Dutch Film and Television Academy. His student short-film DE OVERKANT wins de Zilveren Méliès at the International Amsterdam Fantastic Film and his graduation film PIJN obtains the Nassenstein Startprijs and is selected in several international festivals, amongst them the prestigious Clermont-Ferrand. The same year his commercial MAFFIA wins a Young Director Award at the Cannes Lions Commercial.
In 2009 his film BARBOSA receives a Gouden Kalf nomination for best television movie. In 2012 Iván directed his first feature film MY LIFE ON PLANET B that won the MovieSquad award at the NFF. In 2013 he writes and directs the webserie’s MAX and BILLY’S DREAM MACHINE GIRL that obtains an International Digital Emmy nomination. Iván directed episodes for many successful Dutch tv-series such as VPRO’s STERKE VERHALEN UIT ZOUDVLOED, BNN’s VAN GOD LOS and more recently AVRO-TROS’s PROJECT ORPHEUS and KRO-NCRV’s VLUCHT HS13.
At 25fps, Iván directed commercials for clients such as Postcodeloterij, Univé, Robeco, Woonexpress, Gamma and Heineken.
